Jamie Stewart Announces Solo Tour, Subscription Project, and New Album Title

Could my life be any better right now? No, it couldn't. Today, Jamie Stewart, Xiu Xiu's frontman, announced that he is embarking on a solo trek across the U.S. and the only Texas date falls in our fair city on April 21st at Salvage Vanguard Theater. We don't really know what he will be playing, but at a recent solo show, he played strictly Xiu Xiu material, so we will go with that. In any case, its going to be damn good. Also, photographer/band manager David Horvitz will be accompanying Stewart on the tour to do more photo projects. This time its a little different though. If you bring in rolls of 35mm film and a self addressed, stamped envelope, Horvitz will take the photos and send them back to you, and you can develop them yourself. Also, Horvitz and Stewart intend to take photos of every single person at every one of the shows, and the best 300 will be compiled into a photo book. I have so many things to buy, but I don't mind at all.

In other news, Stewart is compiling a subscription project of what he is calling "ambient, experimental, and minimalist works." The subscription will cost you $100 and you will get 1 CD of material every month for an entire year. If you pitch in an extra $10 (and why not?), Stewart will throw in another CD and a homemade chocolate. Each CD will be hand-numbered in an edition of 50 (there are only 50 subscriptions avai
lable) and will come with a hand-wrapped felt and yarn cover and a different leaf under each of the CD sleeves. Could it get any better for Xiu Xiu fans? No, it couldn't (although I could use $100 so if you want to donate to my cause, I would appreciate it).
In regards to the full band, the new Xiu Xiu album will be titled Dear God, I Hate Myself, and is set to come out in 2010, but we'll see how that goes.

That's great news! David Horvitz is so awesome. I'm glad they are working together.
