This Week : Austin Gets Treated to Girl Talk and The Death Set

This week is one that most of you have been looking forward to (or dreading because a certain show is now completely sold out). Since the digital release of his new album Feed the Animals, Gregg Gillis, aka Girl Talk, has been steadily gaining more and more notoriety, moving from an indie club banger to dude bro body mover almost over night. The two groups of listeners (and those in between) will collide tomorrow night when he hits the stage at Emo's. Tickets are sold out, but you can hit someone up on Craigslist if you'd like to blow a good chunk of change. If you don't have tickets, you might just want to stay home...

Also this week, one of our favorite live acts, along with an amazing local duo we have yet to see, will be taking the stage at Red 7 to fulfill your needed dose of bratty spaz punk. The Death Set and Best Fwends will be playing side by side, one right after the other, at Red 7 on Tuesday night. if you are sad about not seeing Girl Talk, I would suggest going to see this show to cheer you up. Also, if you're happy after seeing Girl Talk, I would suggest going to see this show to stay that way. You'll get a good workout in. Trust us.

Here's a bonus video for ya. Here we have The Death Set playing at that in-store at Good Records we set up earlier this year, spliced with footage of the band playing on the floor of The Loft, all of which was covered in photos and words here on the GL. The band is playing Nirvana's Tourettes. Footage comes courtesy of Parade of Flesh
