The Day-fire: January 30; Femininity

On this episode of the Day-fire, we focus on female artists, be they at the forefront of their band or going solo. The feature includes a lot of my favorite female artists and the ones that I think have affected feminine independent music most or who have been affected. That is, the classics and the up and comers. There's no Janis; there's no Joan; there's no Nico, this time around. They just didn't make the list, but that doesn't mean anything. Because I still like them. And it's my show.

Low - Point of Disgust
Azure Ray - If You Fall
Deerhoof - Kidz are so small
Rachel Yamagata - Be Be Your Love
Pink Nasty - Don't Ever Change
Neko Case - Margaret vs. Pauline
Portishead - Only You
Goldfrapp - Strict Machine
Bjork - Pleasure is All Mine
Joanna Newsom - Clam Crab Cockle Cowrie
Vashti Bunyan - Here Before
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps
Bosque Brown - Still Afraid
Cat Power - Good Woman
The Innocence Mission - The Prayer of St. Francis
Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek
